About the “Three-Quarter Sequence” Requirement of the Statistics BS

Statistics is valuable only when it’s applied to real-world problems. Gaining expertise in another field is necessary for Statisticians. Thus, candidates for the Statistics BS (but not Statistics BA) are required to take “approved, coherent, three-quarter sequence at the 20000 level in a field to which statistics can be applied.”

Please note the 3 courses are NOT statistics, data analysis, or research method courses offered by other departments. They should be substantive courses in the other discipline that are

The three courses must form a sequence or be thematically related, ensuring that the knowledge gained in subsequent courses builds on what was learned previously.
