Statistics Job Listings

I got tired of remembering multiple websites, so I created this page to compile all the links. While I've assigned each site a category, they are not exclusive. For instance, the IMS site has some non-academic jobs, even though it's "Primarily Academic". The sites overlap, particularly the Statistics Academic sites (Florida, IMS, Purdue), but it's best to check them all anyway. Many postings appear on only one list.

Between these sites, academic coverage is pretty good. Nonacademic coverage is less so. The majority of industry jobs appear solely in newspaper online classifieds. Check the city papers. I usually search for "SAS" and "Statistics". Alternatively, you can use a recruiting service such as those listed at the bottom of the page. In statistics, candidates don't pay fees. Finally, I'm concentrating on the US and Canada, so this listing has very scattered coverage of the rest of the world.

Primarily Academic

University of Florida. The most comprehensive list of large university academic positions. This has a bigger selection of postdocs than other sites. There are also a few industry jobs.

Institute of Mathematical Statistics. Mostly research-oriented faculty positions.

Purdue University. Medium to large university academic positions, plus some industry jobs.

Chronicle of Higher Education, Statistics listing. Smaller schools appear here more often than at IMS, Florida, or Purdue. The Chronicle does not have a biostatistics category; you need to use the search engine.

American Mathematical Society. The math list has surprisingly many positions, particularly for small liberal arts colleges that are looking for one or two statisticians in a department of Mathematics. Search for the Statistics postings.

Mathjobs. Most positions here are in mathematics, and a subset of the AMS listings above, but a few are unique to this site. You might have to apply through this site, so take a look.

Mixed Academic and Industry

American Statistical Association Jobweb. Be sure to search BOTH the 65 word announcements and the online list; they have different listings. During the fall, faculty announcement season, this is heavily biased towards academia. In the rest of the year, it's biased towards industry.

Statistical Society of Canada. If you love curling and say "zed", this is for you.

University of Washington at Seattle. A small list, with many repeats, but it also gets a few unusual jobs. International coverage differs from other places.

North Carolina State University. A small blog list, focusing on the South and Mid-Atlantic.

Math-jobs. Yes, the name looks the same as a listing above, but things are different. math-jobs.com is based in Switzerland and has a worldwide focus.

Biostatistics and Other Related Fields

Association of Schools of Public Health. Most public health sites carry a wide variety of jobs, including biostatistics and epidemiology. Use the search engine.

American Public Health Association. More biostatistics.

Emory Public Health. Again, a wide variety of posts necessitates a search.

UCLA Biostatistics. Academic positions, postdocs, and industry jobs.

AACSB BizSchoolJobs. This Business school site includes mostly non-statistics jobs, but has a few quantitative positions.

Operations Research and Management Science. Operations research, decision science, and related jobs. The search engine is recommended.

American Psychological Association. There's a search option for Quantitative/Mathematical/Psychometrics/Statistics positions.

Industry and Recruiters

Smith Hanley Consulting. Long term and contract work in Biotech, Marketing, and Information Technology.

Smith Hanley Associates. Similar company name, different jobs, with focus on Banking and Finance.

PhDs.org. Quantitative Analyst jobs, mostly. Lots of quants, with a few non-statistics jobs tossed in.

Credit Careers. Targeted credit and collections banking jobs.

Analytic Recruiting. Marketing and markets.

SAS-Jobs. As would be expected, there's lots of SAS programming work here, but also some analysis gigs.

iCrunchData. Marketing, banking, biostats, and other industry work. Still heavy on SAS, but not as much as SAS Jobs.

US Government jobs. Series 1529 and 1530 correspond to Mathematical Statistician and Statistician, respectively.
