Grade components

The course grade has four components: Homework, Class Attendence, Midterm, and Final.

  1. Homework (30%) will be assigned weekly, collected, graded, and returned. All homework will be due at the beginning of class on the assigned due date (normally a Wednesday). Late homework will not be accepted for any reason. To allow for emergencies or bad luck, the lowest homework score will be dropped from the grade computation.
  2. Class Attendence (10%) Students are required to attend all lectures.
  3. The midterm exam (30%) will be a 50 minute examination, given in class in middle of October. No makeup examination will be given.
  4. The final exam (30%) will be two hours in length and will cover the entire course. The final examination will be given in E1 109 in early December. No makeup final will be given.

Both exams are closed book, but you are allowed and encouraged to bring a single two-sided page of notes and formulas.
