Organizing the Annual Picnic
Some tips for organizing
the annual picnic
Argonne: The second year students are
responsible for organizing the annual departmental picnic at
Argonne at the end of May. Call some 2 months in advance to
reserve the picnic ground. You should call Georgie at (630) 252
2582 to make the arrangements. If she is not there anymore,
call (630) 252 2950, the general information number of Argonne.
-
Money: Check with Kathryn (773.702.8335)
on the amount of money we can spend.
-
Weather: Very hard to control. But it
has been suggested to try to organize the picnic on a Saturday
instead of a Sunday and if it is really bad weather postpone
the picnic till Sunday at (1) the Point on 55th Street or (2)
the park across from Regents Park on 51st Street.
-
Games: The second years are responsible
for bringing balls, frisbees, etc. etc.
-
Directions:You can use the format on
this page to announce the picnic and use the maps to give
to people who are driving up there.
-
Not everyone has a car. You should make
a sign-up sheet for those people (mainly students) who need
a ride and find other people to take them along.
-
Make sure you email the faculty members in
Health Studies and invite them, along with everyone in
Statistics, to the picnic. Email out an invitation as soon
as you know the date, even if it is a month or more in advance.
It gives people with busy schedules a change to keep the day
of the picnic free.
